My name is Tammye Mims. Thirteen years ago, I had a desire to give back to my community and make a difference there. I wanted to give back to the City of Waco, where I am from, by hosting a free community-wide back-to-school event that has done well by serving over 2,000 families yearly. I plan to bring my knowledge of outreach and funding opportunities to US-Empowered Girls, as well as ways to foster support to build the organization. My goal is to create a safe place of communication and bring a nonjudgmental approach to the girls and young women via personal engagement and relatable testimony.
